Living in France

by la_spice @ Thursday, Feb. 07, 2008 - 17:56:17

Just a very brief posting to put myself on the map.

French Map

I live in the South West of France in an area called Charente-Maritime(Dept 17). This area is known for growing grapes to turn into *Cognac and *Pineau.

View from the vineyard

This is a recent photo of the dormant vines which will be pruned very shortly. It's difficult to believe that these will bear fruit later this year. I'll try and remember to take more pictures of the same spot throughout year so that you can see the changes.

* Perhaps I will write about the production process at a later time.

I've seen A place in the Sun cover this area several times...looks lovely...in a way, I'm quite envious of you for being brave enough to up and move to France...it's about the only country in the world where I wouldn't mind moving to because near enough to the UK to come back and see it every now and then... by train...really off flying at the moment...big hugs...will look forward to seeing it all in bloom :)

Where did you stay?

Dordogne. Somewhere roughly between Angouleme and Perigueux.

Lovely pic, it would be good to follow up with pictures through the year if you can copy this one on the post so that we can compare.

Wow !!! I read you were to be picked up in Paris ...by the spirit and the bird... although you were only willing to go for lunch as long as it was at 12h 30 chrono !!

Now I understand much more !!!! cognac and pinau !!! Wow Charende Maritime !!! tout un programme ! This is a wonderful region and fairy guilded land with every "nuance"""""" french nuance, the right note forthe right feeling...

Mmmmmmmmm ! I see ! After 30 years of French style I gave up for new and old needs in ¨Caraibeans homeland... but La France tjrs specially with other nationalities and cultures... No mockery, just proning cultural intersections with all but the best.

Drink such pure embraving liquid playing with your flavour and enjoy to the end of a new feeling to come as for the first time

Santé, ma chère !!!

Hello again my new friend!

You have been very busy today

Where do you live?

yolicolifloryolicoliflor pro

Nowhere... and eyes wide open.

When interesting and beautiful discoveries happen, like discovering your blog, there is only passion and delight... It's living !!! not really being busy... En plus que j'ai le luxe du temps qui manque aà tant d'autres.

Well, I spent almost 30 yrs of my life (married, woman, mother, friend and human) in Lyon. then I fled to Provence in such bed shape I didn't notice I was settling in Provence !! It did hit me when I asked if there were "cigales"... The answer was, "Ouh! là! là!" Six yrs in a house with chambres d'hotes to become and never did. I sold everything out to find a narrower human interchange place to live with my deafness by then too huge to allow me to go on alone.(Too bad no flats are available in blogland...) I found an answer and am trying to adapt it : go back live in my home island I rounced to the year I fell in love in Corsica with a stéphanois, my Roman best friend's cousin.

Don't know how to put smileys or I forgot... But I'd put so many to laugh and show joy in this message.

Today I see my daughter, now married and back in Lyon. tomorrow I hope to see my son, also back in Lyon after a life space in La Reunion and an unlucky marriage with a wonderful young woman... Circumstances are sometimes really rough on beautiful might be or have been. Only one way out : adapt with huge patience.

have a great day, mi amiga !!!
